Say No to More Pollution

Action is needed on June 4th & you are needed at an Important refinery hearing!

There’s a very important hearing regarding the Delaware City Refinery this Tuesday, June 4th at 6pm. The Refinery is seeking a federal Title V permit to increase pollution. The refinery wants to spew 33% more toxins into our air! With one of the highest cancer rates in the US, that’s something Delaware cannot afford.

Additionally, in light of the recent 4 car train derailment at the Refinery over Memorial Day weekend ( which was not reported to DNREC or the surrounding community and could have had devastating consequences like those seen in Mayflower, AR and Parkers Prairie, MN), there are serious concerns about the Refinery’s emergency response plan. The Refinery’s request for a permit should be denied!

There are 2 ways to get involved with this issue.

  1. Join those who will be tailgating outside prior to the hearing start. We will be making signs and gearing up for the hearing.
  2. Make a comment during the public comment period of the hearing.

We need as many people to attend this hearing as possible. The Refinery has chartered 10 buses to bring Refinery employees into the hearing in an attempt to silence opposition voices!

Meet outside at 5pm at the Paul H. Morrill, Jr. Community Center 250 Fifth Street, Delaware City for tailgating. Then the hearing starts at 6pm at the Delaware City Fire Hall at 815 5th Street, Delaware City, Delaware 19706.

Tuesday, June 4th. Tailgating will start at 5pm at the Delaware City Community Center parking lot. The Hearing starts at 6pm just down the street at the Fire Hall.
