Greens in the News Today
Rueful city officials sing “It’s our parade and we’ll cry if we want to…”
We really do love Delaware City and we want EVERYONE who lives there to register Green!
And thank you, Matt, for the wonderful characterization “The four horseman of environmental apocalypse: Jack Markell, Alan Levine, union leadership and the Delaware legislature .”
Controversy overshadows Delaware City Day
Gov. Markell’s Waterloo
Delaware is the lowest state relative to sea level and all they wanted is a huge fossil-fuel burning power plant built for no apparent reason. I was on the radio with Gov. Markell, who gave his usual “stop saying no.” reply. Bureaucrats like Markell demean educated people, who differ with their policies. What he is really saying is shut up and sit down.
Markell’s slash and burn policies have left us with $20 million in losses from the Fisker plant, a $210 million pork project dredging the Delaware Riiver for no net gain and now the Data Center debacle. We need forward thinking leaders who can see a big picture for job growth with an eye for a balance within the natural world.
Markell says projects will be within environmental compliance, from a state where many permits are not up to federal clean water regulations. Could Delawareans imagine the landmark Coastal Zone Act coming up for a vote with these pro-business poodles? A shortsighted political agenda and ruling by fiat has finally caught up to Gov. Markell.
