A representative from Delaware’s Green Party, Bernie August, spoke in favor of the policy. At 65 years old, he’s a “father and grandfather of seven children.”
“Schools are a haven for our children against a cruel, mean-spirited world,” he said.
He said he also believes the United States should ensure tranquility and promote general welfare for the people that live here.
“The current xenophobia sweeping our great nation, by our current president, is an abomination and not representative of the people,” August said.
He felt the school board and community had a chance to make the world better.
