Greetings Greens!

Most of the people to whom this email is addressed have been active in Green Party activities in the past.  All of you also received an invitation to run for office.

I am writing to invite you to the annual meeting of the Green Party of Delaware, which will be held on Sunday, March 25, from 1pm to 5 pm at Newark Natural Foods, 230 East Main St., Newark Shopping Center, Newark, DE.  Refreshments will be potluck, so if you plan to attend please RSVP and also let us know if you personally plan to bring anything.
At the meeting we will be reviewing the past year’s activities of the party, discussing and voting on suggested changes to our bylaws, voting on the GPDE Treasurer and a National Delegate position, questioning a couple of people who want to run for state-wide offices and voting on whether to allow them to run on our ballot line.
Not all of you may know that at last year’s Annual Meeting, the membership approved an additional requirement to the definition of being a member of the party.  This is different from being a registered voter of the Green Party. Because the Green Party of Delaware has long suffered from a lack of funding, we adopted a dues requirement for people who wish to be voting party members – that is the people who will cast votes at the Annual Meeting on the items mentioned above.  Not paying dues will not prevent you from attending or participating in any other Green Party activity, such as local meetings, candidate campaigns, activist participation or social gatherings.
But since the Green Party does not accept corporate funding or funding from any sort of PAC, we must at least try to establish a base of support from individual contributors.  Our requirement is $3/month or $36/year.  We allow hardship waivers and anyone who wants to be a member, but feels the requirement would be a hardship, may contact our treasurer Steve Messick, to explain the request. It will be reviewed and responded to privately.
If you wish to pay dues before the Annual Meeting, you may mail a check for $36 to: Green Party of Delaware, P.O. Box 6044, Wilmington, DE 19804-0644.  Or you may pay dues at the Annual Meeting.  Anyone wishing to vote must be paid up for the previous year.
I hope to see many of you at the meeting.

Chair, Coordinating Committee, GPDE
