Some pertinent background:
Green Delaware wrote to Castle on December 12, 2002, and Carper
and Biden on December 17th. None responded. Compare this with the
positions against the river-poisoning taken by New Jersey senators
Corzine and Lautenberg, and Congressman Andrews.

Hi Folks,
Please call our two senators and our representative tomorrow or
when you get this email. We need them to support the original
consent order for the regenerative scrubber instead of the
non-regenerative. The non-regenerative scrubber will pollute and
poison the Delaware River with a daily output of 550 tons of
wastewater. They will say the Sodium Sulfate is benign, but it was
on the federal toxic chemical list until it was dropped in 1987,
can everyone say the Reagan Years? Ask what do they know of the
Mercury, Nickel, Copper? Now they have said this is a state issue
and what they are really saying is that they didn't want to get
involved. But they can appeal to the head of the EPA, Christine
Todd Whitman, on our behalf and state that they want the original
consent order upheld. The senators from New Jersey Launtenberg and
Corzine have, as Representative Rob Andrews has also. They might
also say that the non-regenerative scrubbers are the most used and
the most reliable. What you can tell them that Motiva will save
$60 million by using the non-regenerative scrubber, and that is
what is driving this change.
What about what the citizens want out of the worst polluter and
unrepentant corporation we have! Ask them for a written position
letter on this matter be sent to you. Either the regenerative
scrubber that will benefit everyone or the non-regenerative that
will benefit the Motiva and help make the Delaware a more polluted
cess pool.
Thanks
